I’ve had enough of the “Montreal needs players from Québec” narrative.

Habs need to build from the middle with a strong D core. Love Laffy but the Habs are not trading their first for him, agreed with the nonsense.
Let's focus on what else will they do with their all their other picks and players to move out. I still say they will package some picks to get another 1st...mid round to pick someone slipping that they really like. It's no longer about quantity of picks like before, Habs have tons of mid range prospects, what they need is high quality picks that go out usually in the first. Quality over quantity now.
Ivan Miroshnichenko is signed in Russia until 2024, he could slip easily. |

Enough with that nonsense please.
oh my... - Pat1993
Oh and apparently Bergeron (the real one, Michel, not Pete’s one) would trade the pick for Dubois…2 years from unrestricted free agency…nonsense i tell you!

Bergeron est pas mal dans les émotions et les vives réactions. La logique et l'analyse ont pas l'air d'être sa tasse de thé. |

I agree about trading Wright for either Lafrenière or Dubois, they should keep the pick, but the habs should still look in their own backyard and draft Quebecers, not at the expense of talent of course, but it should be important for this team. |

Not keeping Danault is a bit a of a head scratcher. The irony is that Bergeron is now in LA. |

I really thought they were gonna figure something out and Danault would stay, but oh well. with sound asset management this kind of poop shouldn't happen. |

Is it really though? Imo it's as simple as he didnt want to be here ie didnt like the pressure and his usage as a defensive pivot. I think it's unanimous we wanted to keep him, but he was a UFA so largely his choice where he wants to go. |

I'm not saying dont get any homegrown talent at all, obviously if the talent is there take it, but that should not be the first criteria that comes to mind when scouting. It's about winning cups first and foremost, period. |

funny how Bergevin would be blamed for all the bad moves, but in this case it was Danault's decision to leave...

Seems more like a ego thing from Bergevin than anything else, unless we miss some infos here.
Anyway, he's gone but it's hard not to think about it with the season he just had and now the current playoffs. Hopefully Wright will cover up that mistake cause this team is very weak down the middle after Suzuki. |

Roy, Trudeau, RHP and a few more....it's not like there are not Quebec prospects coming up. It's quality...not Quebec quotas. |

not a "first criteria", of course not, but the habs should be more aware of their local product, I don't think there are any issues with that.
